A site designed for your business, not adapted from a theme

A bespoke five-page site starts at £1,950 and takes two to three weeks. Bigger builds of ten to fifteen pages run £3,900 and take four to six. I design it, build it, write the structured data, and launch it. You get one person for the whole job.

Who this is for

Businesses whose website is now costing them work. Usually that means one of three situations: the site was built years ago by someone who has gone quiet, or it was built on a bought theme that has slowly filled up with plugins, or there has never been a proper site at all and the enquiries come from word of mouth alone.

I do my best work for owner-run businesses between roughly two and fifty people, where I can talk to the person who actually decides. If you need a committee signed off at every stage, a bigger agency will serve you better and I will say so early.

What the money buys

01

Design made for your content

I start from what you actually need to say, not from a layout looking for text. Every page gets drawn for its job.

02

A build you own outright

Clean, commented code on your hosting and your accounts. No licence tied to me, nothing that stops working if you hire someone else.

03

Speed treated as a requirement

Images sized properly, fonts loaded once, scripts kept to what earns its place. Most builds come in under a second to first paint on 4G.

04

Structured data written by hand

LocalBusiness, Service, Person and FAQ markup in JSON-LD, so Google and the AI assistants read facts rather than guessing at them.

05

A CMS you can genuinely use

Editable blocks with sensible labels, and a walkthrough call at handover. I would rather you changed your own opening hours than paid me to.

06

Two rounds of revisions

Written into the quote. Beyond that I charge hourly and tell you before the clock starts, not after.

How a build actually runs

Week 0Call, then a written quoteHalf an hour on the phone. You get a fixed price, a page list and a date, all in writing, usually the next day.
Week 1Structure and copy shapeWe agree what each page has to do before anything gets designed. This is the week that decides whether the site works.
Week 2Design in the browserI skip flat mockups on smaller builds and design in real HTML, so what you review is what you get, on your own phone.
Week 3+Build, review, reviseTwo rounds. You leave comments on a preview link rather than emailing screenshots back and forth.
LaunchGo live, then watch itRedirects mapped from the old URLs, Search Console connected, analytics checked. I stay close for a fortnight afterwards, included.

What I do not do

No £399 starter sites. There are people locally who will do that and some of them do it well, but it is not the job I am set up for. I also do not do logos and full brand identity work, though I will happily work alongside whoever does.

And I do not resell hosting I have not tested, or bolt on a marketing retainer you did not ask for. If your enquiry needs a photographer or a copywriter more than it needs a developer, I will tell you that in the first reply.

Questions people actually ask

Do you use AI to build it?

Yes, every day, and I review every line before it ships. That is the whole point of hiring one accountable developer instead of a prompt. Speed comes from the tooling; the judgement about what is safe to keep is mine.

WordPress or something else?

WordPress if you or your team will be editing regularly. Next.js if the site needs to be very fast, very custom, or feed an app. I will recommend one and explain the trade-off in plain terms rather than defaulting to whatever is easiest for me.

Can I edit it myself afterwards?

That is the intention. Editable blocks, plain labels, and a recorded walkthrough at handover.

What if I need changes in six months?

Either a care plan from £65 a month, or hourly at £65 with no minimum. Both fine. Plenty of clients take neither and email me once a year.

Who owns the work?

You do, on your own hosting and accounts, from the day you pay the balance.

This page, measured in your browser

Your device
LCPMeasuring…
How long until the main content appears. Google wants under 2.5 seconds.
INPMeasuring…
How quickly the page answers when you tap. Under 200ms is the target.
CLSMeasuring…
How much the layout moves while loading. Under 0.1, ideally zero.

Real numbers from your device and connection, not a screenshot of a score I chose. Nothing is sent anywhere. The measurement happens in your browser and stays there. If one of these ever reads amber on my own site, you will see it, which is rather the point. I audit these for £650.
